Lady Gaga, Pat Robertson, Reese Witherspoon, more share disapproval over Alabama abortion law

MONTGOMERY, Alabama — Gov. Kay Ivey has officially signed the Alabama’s near-total ban on abortions into law, and celebrities of all kinds are sharing their thoughts.

Disapproving comments ranged from actress Reese Witherspoon, who is from Louisiana but started in the movie “Sweet Home Alabama,” to televangelist Pat Robertson, who is opposed to abortion but said he believes the new law “has gone too far.”

The law makes it a Class A felony to perform an abortion, a crime punishable by life or 10 to 99 years in prison. The abortion ban passed the Senate by a vote of 25 to 6 on Tuesday.
