Alternative pop star Lana Del Rey recently announced plans to release a new country album.
Speaking at the Billboard and NMPA Songwriter Awards in Los Angeles last week, she announced that Lasso will be released in September.
“If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We’re going country. It’s happening,” Del Rey said during the event. “That’s why Jack has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years.”
Paying tribute to Jack Antonoff, she said, to get nominated for producer of the year for five years in a row is “anything but luck.” Antonoff was “born under one of those talent, lucky musical stars”, she added.
Lasso will be Lana Del Rey’s tenth studio album and a follow-up to last year’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.
